Getting cozy with Jimmy Choo

Not that long ago I was lucky enough to get cosy with Jimmy Choo's spunky creative director Sandra Choi (who happens to be the niece of Jimmy Choo's wife, Rebecca) at hot Singapore restaurant Pollen.

The designer took a break from The International New York Times's  S.E.A of Luxury conference to greet myself, and some other lucky individuals, at a luncheon celebrating the luxury shoe brand's Spring Summer 2014 collection.

The first thing that struck me? The Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay couldn't be a more perfect backdrop for the stunning nature-inspired shoes and bags on display ? box clutches with beetle-shaped clasps, pumps in neon shades (the bright colours mimic a bug's defense mechanism, I was told by the brand's rep) and Jimmy Choo's famously sexy sandals decorated with iridescent feathers.

After we were done feasting our eyes on Jimmy Choo's drool-worthy pieces, it was time to meet Sandra. The designer with short, sassy hair was born on the Isle of Wight in the UK, and was named sole creative director of the brand early in 2013. Rocking an oversized clutch and leopard print sandals (from Jimmy Choo of course), she was also quick to pay me a compliment on the Jimmy Choo glitter loafers I had on. "Nice shoes!" she quipped.

How was the rest of the Jimmy Choo treatment, you ask? We soaked in the sun at Pollen and enjoyed our three course meal of Boston lobster, beef tenderloin and creme fraiche with apples ? just as delish as those sexy feather trimmed sandals we have our eye on.

You’ll be able to read my detailed interview with Sandra in the March 2014 issue of Her World magazine, so don’t forget to grab a copy!
