Leah’s March Favorites

Leah march favorites

It’s finally spring, and that means it’s time to come out of our dark, cold little bear caves and embrace the sunshine.

As much as I love this time of the year, I’ve been a plant victim. Specifically, I’ve been victimized by pollen. If it wasn’t for my friend Benadryl, I probably would have already sneezed myself to the grave. Those plants want me dead.

Despite my (not-so-little) pollen problem, there are a bunch of things I’ve been loving this month, and I thought I’d share them here. As usual, zero percent of these products are sponsored. Nada!

1. Face and Skincare

March favorites dove olay dry shampoo bodywash

Here’s a secret for you: I don’t wash my hair every day. And neither should you, because that’s way too harsh on your hair and scalp. It dries out your scalp, your hair creates more oils to compensate, and it’s becomes a crazy, oily, disaster. It’s like an oil spill on your head. Nobody wants that!

In the desert days between washing, dry shampoo is your best friend. For those of you are familiar with dry shampoo, Batiste is a pretty popular brand with good reason. It’s been my favorite for years. However, I’ve been reaching for Dove’s Refresh + Care Dry Shampoo more often. It doesn’t completely mattify your hair like Batiste, but it’s clear instead of white, and also doesn’t have to be worked in. It smells good and adds a ton of volume and texture to second day hair.

Olay’s Ultra Moisture Body Wash is great for shaving. I have sensitive legs that are prone to getting red bumps and ashy patches after shaving, and this product has dramatically cut that down. The scent is amazing as well.

2. Nail Polish

China glaze re fresh mint

St. Patrick’s Day calls for green nail polish. Even though the holiday as passed, if you’re still looking for the minty nail polish at the end of the rainbow, look no further. China Glaze’s Re-fresh Mint is your answer. (How cute is that name?)

3. Fashion Favorites

Gray peplum shirt mint necklace striped backpack

My favorite shirt in March has been this gray peplum one from TJ Maxx, which I snagged for the high, high price of $8. My amazing detective skills were able to see past the marker on the tag to determine this shirt originated from American Eagle.

Why do I love it? It has the feel of a soft t-shirt, but the peplum and keyhole details make it ultra-stylish. It’s neutral, comfy, and easy to wear with anything.

Tjmaxx striped backpack

I just featured this in my last article, but that was written before I had a chance to fully try it out. This nautical backpack has become my necessary sidekick for class. The straps don’t slide off my shoulders. Madden Girl has not let me down.

Black suit cream blouse pumps gold zippers

I know what you’re thinking: “Whoa, I was not expecting to see a suit! “

Well, friend, I was not expecting to need a suit either until this past month, when there was a plethora of career fairs and formal events popping up all over campus. Long story short, you’re going to need a black suit in college. Or when you become a secret agent. Whichever one comes first.

H&M offered this suit at an affordable price, and it’s designed perfectly for petite women with shorter legs and smaller shoulders. I also love the gold zipper details on the waist. I plan on doing an article on styling a black suit, so consider this a sneak peek.

4. Favorite Book

Every day by david levithan

If you’re someone who doesn’t read much, Every Day by David Levithan is your book. It’s about someone who wakes up in a different body – you guessed it – every day. It’s innovative, fascinating, and makes you think.

5. I am looking forward to…

Seeing the Maze Runner movie! The entire series was excellent and the trailer looks so good.

I also can’t wait to see Divergentwhich came out last week. I am such a fan of Veronica Roth and the series. Before either movie was out, I read Divergent around the same time as The Hunger Games, and I remember sort of favoring Divergent. But it’s too hard to pick between them. I love all my sci-fi dystopian children.

Tell me what you think:

What are your monthly favorites? What books have you been reading? Any new products you adore? Let me know in the comments below what you’ve been loving this month and what you’re look forwards to in April.
