It’s tough to have a bad skin day. But imagine having a bad skin year! Which is what I had been experiencing since the first day of the New Year. Honestly, I was just run down. In addition to running my businesses, not only the website but the upcoming launch of our new bag line and keeping up with my new role as Contributing Editor at Vogue Taiwan, and monthly columns for US publications as well as attending Fashion Weeks in New York and Paris, I sometimes don’t get more than a few hours of sleep a night during Fashion Month (quelle horreur!). While the rest of America is winding down to sleep, I start working with Asia until well past midnight.

I love what I do, but started to panic about the state of my skin and questioning my workload (is my passion for fashion really worth wrinkles and gray hairs?!). Topical creams are great for daily maintenance, but what I needed were serious, deep-penetrating peels and tightening laser treatments. I was told about StriVectin’s latest product, their SD Advanced Concentrate, and remembered that I’d tried the original nine years ago. Innovative beyond its time and one of the first cosmeceuticals on the market, it’s one of those products you never forget.

I remember loving what its first generation cream did for my skin, but then I got pregnant and was told to stop using anything that might harm the baby. Two months ago, right before NYFW kicked off, I picked up StriVectin once again. This time it’s their new concentrate, a formula that includes high-tech actives like NIA-114 and Collegex-CE Wrinkle Repair Complex. What does all that mean? It’s able to reach the deepest layer of skin to boost collagen (which is key to looking youthful) and diminish wrinkles (obviously another key to looking young!).

Through use, I’ve noticed the skin on my face has a smoother texture. I even agreed to do a photo shoot the morning after a late-night engagement celebration with family yesterday. Again, I warned the photographer I would need heavy photoshopping, but I was pleasantly surprised when my skin didn’t look as horrible as it usually does after Fashion Month. This time, upon returning home, I didn’t fret about my face. I went straight to the math tutor with my son, followed by dinner with my husband.

The biggest surprise: my hands. Within just three weeks, it’s as if I had reversed the damages of driving without gloves (I used to drive wearing white cotton gloves, until it became a nuisance). I failed to even notice the difference until I took a photo of myself, wearing a friend’s ring on my hand on Instagram. Usually, I’d add a filter to my abused hands before posting the photo as they’d been weathered not only from the sun but from incessantly washing them throughout the day (I became a germaphobe after having a baby). But no filter needed. I literally was in shock at the photo. The skin was smooth and youthful, even my fingers, which were the most wrinkly, proved to be line-free. Photos do not lie!

StriVectin SD Advanced is a must-try, regardless of your age (or your sleep patterns). It worked for me almost 10 years ago, and the new clinical-grade formula – this one gives you essential amino acids and copper (both boost collagen production and stimulate elastin), in addition to energizing cells and inhibiting environmental aggressors, like UV rays and polluted air – is working for me once again. This is serious care for serious Beauty Snobs. I am so obsessed with it I asked about obtaining a year supply just to ensure I won’t ever be without it. Try it for at least a month, you can thank me later.
